Platform passing starts with the players' feet, toes, knees, shoulders and hips all square to the ball, not to the target area. Moving players use two shuffle steps to get into position for the ball. Hand positioning is key and Shymansky prefers the overlapping technique, or fist technique, for non-linear passing. Thumbs are pushed down to the floor as elbows are extended out.
